Culinary Team Overview
Entering the Lake Region High School Culinary Academy will provide the opportunity to learn culinary fundamentals in taste, presentation and cooking technique. It will allow for experience in the kitchen as well as all aspects of cost control, safety and sanitation, nutrition and kitchen management. Working at the Stable Cafe provides many learning experiences.
Culinary Team students have the opportunity to earn certification in SafeStaff, ServSafe and ProStart. SafeStaff is an employee food handler training required by all employees. ServSafe is a management certification. ProStart is the curriculum that the National Restaurant and Lodging Association created to get our students better prepared for their future.
Competition is an exciting way to get involved. ProStart and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) both offer competitive events. These could provide the opportunity to travel nationwide to compete in culinary events.
