I decided to pursue this academy because of the field experience it offers of being in a classroom and helping students. An academy is a better choice than a traditional high school path because it is a hands-on program that allows you to work with the real world techniques. When you get a chance to teach, you feel you have just made an accomplishment. Observing classrooms and the way they run has taught me to change my lifestyle and has shown me the way I want to teach. My grade point average, attendance, and career goals have improved along the years due to the importance of being in the Future Educators Academy. After I graduate, I will attend college and major in educations to become a 3rd grade teacher. I am president of Future Educators Academy and of Student Government, secretary of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a member of UthMpact with Inneract Alliance and a mentor in Teen Trendsetters.

Future Educators Academy Overview

Future Educators Academy is a program designed for students in grade 9 through 12 who plan or may consider a career in education. Whether being a Pre-K teacher or a college professor, FEA can help you "test the waters" while getting a jump start on your college degree.

Courses within the Future Educators Academy are designed to give real-world experiences, with curriculum aligned with Polk State College educator preparation courses. Job shadowing, mentoring, and internships at local elementary and middle schools are an integral part of the curriculum. Students who successfully complete the program have an opportunity to earn their Para-educator certification upon graduation.

Florida Future Educators of America

We are part of the Florida Future Educators of America. We attend the annual state conference each year. Many of our students enjoy taking the dual enrollment courses, which enables them to earn college credit while still in high school.
