ACES provides experience and specialized instruction for students interested in working with children. Students help operate a program which provides care for children from 12 weeks to 5 years of age, giving the high school students hands-on experience with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The program also gives students the opportunity to interact with children on a daily basis, allowing them to discover if they are suited for a career in working with children.

This course prepares students to understand the nature of human development from conception through adolescence and the connection of the students' development and plans for working with children. Emphasis is placed on theories of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development, the effect of heredity and the environment, the role of caregivers and the family, health and safety concerns, and contemporary issues.

This academy prepares students to understand the nature of child development from conception to school age, with an emphasis on positive development and nurturing of the family at each stage of a child's growth. Parenting Skills prepares students for the multiple roles essential to becoming a model parent and assists children to become effective and productive citizens.Students with the Department of Children and Families Child Care Training 40 hour courses and 5 hour Early Literacy online class that can lead students to job placement in the child care field.
